Working in schools

We place a full-time specialist coach in each school to support students through open participation, small group and targeted individual sessions including:

  • Before, during and after school cubs
  • Targeted one-to-one sessions to help students improve behaviour and attitude
  • One-to-one and small group sessions to develop talent
  • Weekend and school holiday activities
  • Some PE classes to promote the programme within the school
  • Open-door drop-in service

A full-time Greenhouse coach at school means young people have access to their role-model every day during critical years of their life. The coach will liaise with parents, school staff and professionals from other agencies to develop a holistic approach to a young person's personal and academic development.

Every Child Matters

We help schools meet young people's needs according to the Every Child Matters Government Green Paper so they may:

Be healthy
Improving mental and physical health and fitness by regularly taking part in sport and performing arts.

Stay safe
By reducing bullying, racial harassment and discrimination with our inclusive programmes.

Enjoy and achieve
By raising aspirations and standards of achievement for under-achieving groups including those affected by disadvantage and poverty.

Make a positive contribution
By developing activities to steer young people away from anti-social behaviour and improve their behaviour and attitudes in school and the community.

Achieve social and economic well-being
By developing positive life skills for adulthood.

We also provide opportunities for young people to:

  • Compete and perform locally, nationally and internationally
  • Attend professional sporting events and performances
  • Develop leadership skills through the nationally-acclaimed awards, training and volunteer schemes
  • Develop their talent on our elite training programmes
