Judo

Judo is one of the most popular sports in the world – and the favourite combat sport. It's a great choice for young people as it emphasises mental, moral and character development, as much as physical training.

The philosophy of Judo places concern for the well-being of both the individual and the community at its heart. Real progress in human life can come only from mutual benefit and prosperity, it says, and it's these principles that drive the work of Greenhouse judo coach, Winston.

Greenhouse coach and Commonwealth gold medallist Winston Gordon says:

'Judo gives young people the discipline and self-confidence to engage with a wide range of people from all walks of life,' says the coach who competed at the Beijing Olympics. 'It promotes tolerance and discipline – and young people notice the positive difference on the mat, in the classroom and at home.'
