Training at Greenhouse Bethwin Football Club is a whole different ball games thanks to matches against big name clubs.
Players at the Peckham based community club are boosting their new season training with games against Tottenham Hotspur FC, Leyton Orient Advanced Soccer School and Welling Utd and others.
Daniel Fenner, Greenhouse Bethwin Development Manager, said: “Playing against other bigger and (often) more skilled clubs gives our players a huge boost and really helps their development.
“Some of our players have never left South-East London so travelling to new areas, meeting other players and seeing how the game is played elsewhere is a big deal – and I’m already seeing results on the pitch.”
Daniel has developed strong links with the London-based clubs and Bethwin players have had the chance to play against Tottenham Hotspur reserves and other talented footballers.
Speaking at an Under 17s match between Greenhouse Bethwin FC and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, Glen Hicks, Coach at Tottenham Hotspur, said: “The Foundation gives school leavers the chance the play football and study full time at a local college. They not only get qualifications but in their third year get to play in Tottenham’s reserve team.
“Playing against other teams such as Greenhouse Bethwin FC not only improves the football skills of all players but also helps on a social level by breaking down barriers so they become more responsible and decent young people.”
